In the Present World of Space age and automation era, all human beings appear to be living a more and more inactive life. They ride instead of walk, sit instead of stand and watches instead of participants. Such type of inactivity or sedentary life is detrimental to psychological and physical health. Thus, there is great need for physical education as a part of balanced living. Regular physical activity increases self-esteem, social development, weight control, anxiety management, playing skill development and academic performance. The benefits of physical programs are obvious and well-known, yet there seem to be numerous calls ranging from decreasing the amount of time reserved for physical activity at educational institutions to total elimination of Physical Education classes.
The policy-makers, decision-takers, administrators are to be persuaded or continue to be persuaded of an essential requirement of physical education. Commitment to conceptualization, reconstruction and delivery of a relevant quality physical education curriculum by appropriately qualified teaching personnel has now become need of hour which may be facilitated by engagement in professional activities and delivery of quality research out-put.
